"I was in yesterday to see Dr. Schmidt and his team. I had to have a tooth extracted that was accidently broke below the gum line. I was nervous as I have never even had a cavity. Dr. Schmidt and his assistant Liz were outstanding. Everything was explained clearly before it was done, very minimal discomfort during and after the procedure. I was able to have the implant post installed that day and went back to work. Later that evening after the numbing medications had worn off I was very pleased at the fact that I had almost no pain. Dr. Schmidt even called personally around 7pm that night to make sure everything was going well. While I hope that I don't have to deal with something like this again I can say for sure that if I do I would absolutely reach out to Dr. Schmidt and his team to get it taken care of. "Who likes the dentist, let alone being told that you need to have a sinus augmentation , which sounds scary but when you read about it, in less words what I read and interpreted as “ lifting your sinus” And doing a bone graft because there’s not enough bone for your implant! Now that may not be all correct but that’s what my take was! The day came, I went to my periodontist with anxiety through the roof! To my surprise I was in and out of the chair in a half hour and aside from tapping and what sounded like a buffer , a bit of pressure , I felt nothing! I did listen to some great and funny back and forth between my periodontist and his assistant My only complaint was that I couldn’t chime in as they were too busy doing my sinus augmentation! All kidding aside I recommend if you ever need some scary sounding periodontic work done Dr Erich Schmidt at western periodontists is highly recommended by me! One more thing, the call in evenning from the Dr himself to see how I was doing was a welcome surprise, not something you hear of these days but so appreciated!"

"I had to take a moment to think of why I told each staff member when I left the office that I thought they and their office staff were incredible. I meant it. Who walks out of a periodontal office, never mind dentist office, with a smile on their face? I thought, "that was easy!" First, making an appointment was easy and met my scheduling needs. At my initial appointment, I was seen within 1 minute of arrival and treated with kindness and respect. Not that I expected anything else, but this seemed different actually increasing my confidence in what I was about to experience. I felt a connection to the staff: our conversation was professional yet with interestes shared and light humor. Dr. Schmidt and his team were organized and efficient. I was informed with what procedure was being done prior to it happening. Before I knew it, the procedure was completed. Clear instructions were explained verbally and typed copy provided. The day of the surgery, the doctor and his assistant made sure throughout the process that I was comfortable. Dr. Schmidt did his best to keep me relaxed as did his assistant. The night of the surgery, Dr. Schmidt called me at home to see how I was doing and answer any questions I may have. Fast, painless and 100% successful. Ellis Dental Clinic in Schenectady, NY quoted a price of $8,000 for this front tooth implant. Dr. Schmidt charged $2,600. A bargain and such a professional procedure. I have two more implants needed and I will be contacting Dr. Schmidt for them."

"I had a difficult situation with a set of prosthetics that I had done on the west coast. They had come loose since I moved East and I had been having a difficult time finding a dentist that could deal with this particular implant. On my first visit, they discovered that they didn't have the proper parts so even though they worked on me and took pictures, they did not charge me for that visit. By my second visit, the proper parts had been acquired and the procedure went off without a hitch. "It is probably a little too soon to make an educated evaluation since the surgery was only 3 days ago. I was happy with the operation and my treatment by the staff. Since I was "loopy" because of the lorazepam some things are vague. Dr Schmidt worked very hard on the extractions, the implant screws, and fitting the temporary dentures. I have a good bite. There is some very minor change to my look due to the juxtaposition of the upper and lower dentures. This should sort itself out when the final dentures are made and inserted. I have given this evaluation a 4 only because I do not really have enough experience to give much of an evaluation. I'll know more as this process progresses. I can say that I'm glad I chose Dr. Schmidt."

"If you want to read a review, from someone who has avoided the dentist like the plague, and has dental implants, then read on. In an effort to be clear, I have been seeing Dr. Schmidt for about 6 months. My implant experience was not with him, but it soon will be. I lost my four front teeth in a car accident in 1994. The bone loss was significant and required multiple bone grafts. Dental implants were not what they are today. The implants were the newest 'experimental' implants. They failed after 15 yrs. That style of implant is not used anymore. I went through the entire process a second time in 2012-13 (not with Dr. Schmidt). I was so done with going to the dentist that I stayed away for years. It is not hard to conclude what happens to those who need dental work but don't go to the dentist...well that was me. For years. I knew, with certainty, that it was going to be terrible to see the dentist again. Well, a broken and infected tooth forced me to seek a dentist. I can't stress enough, please hear me, this Dentist will care for you with dignity and class. Dr. Schmidt is laser focused on making your future the best it can be, he has no interest in dwelling on the past. Dr. Schmidt is a remarkable person, with personal skills that extend beyond dentistry. Not only is he supremely qualified as a Doctor, he has also created a thoughtful considerate atmosphere and a place of healing. His people are wonderful, every one of them wants to help you have a better tomorrow. If your situation, or attitude, in anyway resembles mine, please, please find a way to shake free of that and go see Dr. Schmidt. Just go and see for yourself. If I knew then, what I know now, the only thing I'd change is coming to see him sooner. If Google allowed it, they'd get the 6th star from me. Just to be clear, my implants were done elsewhere. The experience was not terrible, it was, however, not ideal. Which is not a reflection on the institution as much as it was the circumstances and sheer volume of hours in the dentist chair. Uconn Dental school is where the work was done. They took great care of me. They extended themselves for me. They are not to "blame" for my poor disposition, that was purely circumstantial and primarily of my own doing. If you're reading this then you're considering if this is the right dentist for you. I won't tell you what to do. I will however report this, going to see Dr. Schmidt has been the best decision I could have made. He and his staff have completely shifted my view of going to the dentist. I have a long road ahead of me and I am LOOKING FORWARD to the journey, specifically because of this Dentist and his wonderful people. I take these google reviews very seriously.
