Dr. Schmidt moved to the Berkshires and joined Dr. Sandrew's practice in June 2011. Originally from Avon, CT, he received his bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, specifically cell and tissue engineering, with honors from the University of Rochester in 2004. From there, he returned to Connecticut, where he earned his dental training from the University of Connecticut in 2008. Dr. Schmidt continued his education by again returning to Rochester. At the University of Rochester Eastman Institute of Oral Health, he received his Certificate in Periodontology and Dental Implants. Dr. Schmidt is a board-certified practitioner. Through all of this training, he has had the support of his wife, Jackie, and three children, Kylie, Cole, and Adleigh.

Upon the recommendation of my dentist I sought a consultation with Dr. Schmidt for a sensitivity issue related to gum recession. Dr. Schmidt and his staff were professional and thorough during the meeting. They took pictures and performed an examination. I also had X-rays taken that will be accessible to my dentist. They provided information about the procedure as well as my specific circumstances and potential timeline for treatment as well as follow up care. I feel confident that they have provided a treatment plan that will benefit my oral health in the future. They also advised that my issue is not emergent and I could schedule the procedure when I was financial ready and did not pressure me to have the work done which I felt was considerate and honest.

I am so grateful for Dr.Schmidt and specifically Margaret Mary. The empathy and compassion was outstanding. After seeing a dentist and a specialist this week, I was left with tons of questions, no game plan, and in pain. Dr Schmidt is an amazing dentist, kind, funny, and exceptionally skilled. I was so impressed with the professionalism of the whole office staff and Ally the dental assistant who took care of me. I would recommend Western Mass Periodontist to everyone.
